Information about Co2Balau

We are continually researching and introducing new products and Timber species to our Co2 Timber family of websites. Balau is an imported hardwood, it's versatile, fungi resistant with a Class 2 durability rating. It has long been a popular timber for decking, fencing, cladding. We thought it would sit along side our other timbers and give our customer another hardwood to choose from. As with other timber in our range we decide to create it's own dedicated website.

It's important to us to source timber that is FSC compliant. In addition to FSC our balau is SVLK (Indonesia’s Timber Legality Assurance), and FLEGT (a Organisation to combat illegal logging) compliant. We aim to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum and encourage sustainable practices. For example, we use our off cuts in our commercial wood burning stove to heat our workshop in winter and provide heat for our kiln drying process.

We take our responsibility to the environment and its sustainability seriously. We have a duty to produce products that has the smallest carbon footprint possible. We strive to look after our planet as best we can, we are constantly assessing our products, raw material and working practice in an effort to produce 0% carbon-not possible we know but it's better for us all to try.

We are in constant contact with forest owners, Architects and our valuable customers, this gives us the ability to realise and promote the relevant environmental issues relevant to sustainable timber.
